Freightliner Cascadia Wiper Blades Size Chart (2008 – 2024)

Your car’s wiper blades are its second most important safety feature. Without them, it will be almost impossible to see properly during storms. This is why you need them to always be at their best.

Being at their best means that you should occasionally change your wiper blades. The recommendation is that you change the blades at least twice every year. One of the factors to consider when choosing new wiper blades is their size.

Not many drivers know that wiper blades have sizes. If you own a Freightliner Cascadia and you don’t know yours, you are in luck. In this post, we have outlined all the Freightliner Cascadia models from the newest to the oldest with their wiper blade sizes. Scroll through to locate yours.

Beam Wiper Blades vs. Traditional Wiper Blades

Another important factor to consider when choosing wiper blades for your Cascadia is the wiper type. Wiper blades were first invented in 1903. The original wiper blade design is what is known as the “traditional wiper blade.”

With the help of technology, we have a new design of wiper blades that are becoming more popular. The new design is called “beam wiper blade.” Most drivers hardly know the difference between both. In this section, we will look at a few differences and why beam wiper blades are better.

Moving parts

One look at the traditional wiper blade and you will notice that it comes with several hinges. More hinges mean more moving parts which aren’t particularly great for windshield conformity.

Beam wiper blades come with no hinges as such, they scarcely have any moving parts. What this means is that the chances of wear and tear are cut down to the barest minimum. It also implies that there is very little space for dust and debris to affect the wiper blades. Because of this, beam wiper blades last a lot longer than their traditional counterparts.

Endless pressure points

From the description above, you can tell that traditional wiper blades don’t have endless pressure points. This is largely because they possess hinges at different points. If your car has traditional wiper blades, you’d notice that the wiper keeps missing certain spots. The hinges reduce the capacity of the wiper blades to make sufficient contact with the windshield.

With beam wiper blades, the case is completely different. Since they don’t have any hinges, the pressure points on the blades are endless. As such, there is sufficient contact between the blades and the windshield. This is why your beam blades will scarcely miss a spot except they are worn. They have a tighter connection to your windshield regardless of its shape.

Aerodynamic shape

Traditional wiper blades are less aerodynamic than beam wiper blades. How does this even affect the performance of your wipers? The less aerodynamic your wiper blades are, the higher the chance of them being lifted off the windshield by high winds.

If your car has traditional wiper blades, you must have noticed this a couple of times. Beam blades are resistant to wind pressure because of their aerodynamic shape. They cannot be lifted off the windshield so they do a better job even in windy conditions.

Size

Beam wiper blades are lighter and smaller than their traditional counterparts. Is this a good thing? Yes, it is. What it means is that they do not crowd your windshield space or obstruct your visibility while driving. It also means that do not get damaged quickly like the traditional blades. More than anything else, beam blades are more attractive because of their smaller sizes.

Durability

Based on all we have discussed so far, which of these wiper blades is more durable? If you said beam wiper blades, you are 100 percent right. Beam blades will hardly get damaged because of their sizes and the absence of hinges.

What this means is that you don’t have to replace beam blades as frequently as you would traditional blades. It also means that the possibility of being stranded because of broken blades is reduced to almost zero.
