How to choose replacement wiper blades for your GMC Acadia

Beam replacement wipers
The traditional wiper blades designed in 1903 conformed to the windshield with the help of hinges. Because of this, it is quite difficult for these blades to conform during harsh weather. This is because of debris and other substances that may clog the hinges.
With beam blades, this lack of conformity is absent. The reason is that beam wiper blades conform naturally without external help. Since they are seamless, there is no room for debris or other substances to hinder conformity. This is why beam wiper blades are better.
Performance spoilers
Not every wiper blade comes with performance spoilers. This feature is a rubber material covering a part of the wiper blade. While the spoiler helps to protect the wiper blade, it does a lot more. For example, it helps to increase blade pressure on your windshield and also get rid of debris and dirt.
How do you recognize a performance spoiler? It is never smooth all the way and it is always concave towards the part of the blade facing the wind. The spoiler is usually thicker down the middle and it is aerodynamic.
Synthetic rubber blend
The wiper blades are designed to wipe elements off the windshield by pressing against it. Because of this, you need the rubber on the blades to be made of a synthetic rubber blend. This is because this kind of rubber is durable, soft on the windshield, and non-absorbent. There is just one problem with this rubber, it deteriorates with time.
Due to this deterioration, the manufacturers advise users to change their wipers within a 6-month interval at most. Wiper blades with a synthetic rubber blend are also resistant to cold, heat, mildew, and stains.
Durability
It is impossible to discuss choosing replacement wiper blades without mentioning durability. Ensure that you purchase wiper blades from manufacturers that have a reputation for producing high-quality blades. You don’t want to purchase new blades every other week or get stranded because your wiper blades are broken.
