Signs That Your Wiper Blades Need Replacement

Many people ask the question, how do you know that it is time to replace your wiper blades? If you fall into this category, here are a few signs you should watch out for:

Film or streaks on your windshield

Once you notice that the wipers begin to cause streaks on the windshield, you need to change them. First, try to clean off the streaks or film using clean water. If the streaks return after using your wipers the next time, they need replacement.

Bent frames

The metal frames of your wipers could get bent for several reasons. Once the frame is bent, the wiper can no longer perform its regular function. This is because it doesn’t maintain the required contact with the windshield. At this point, you need to replace them.

Chattering sounds

We all get irritated by the chattering sound that the wiper blades make when they sweep across the windshield. Well, once they begin to make that noise, it is a sign that they are worn out. Change them immediately so that they don’t damage your windshield.

Bad contact

Your wiper blades should maintain firm contact with your windshield to rid it of rain or snow. Once you notice that the contact isn’t as firm as before, it is time to replace the blades. Usually, the wiper blades will start to miss some part of the windshield when cleaning off water at this point.
